Fall Trends

October 3, 2019

Fall is finally HERE!! Cue the confetti, balloons all the celebrations! If you couldn’t tell by that into, Fall is by far my favorite season, and favorite time of year for fashion. If you know anything about the fashion industry, the September magazine issues are a big deal. Most all fashion magazines come out with huge editions covering all the trends. It is an honor to be the person gracing the front of these specific magazine covers, and that’s not my opinion, thats a known fact. We all know that Fashion Week is held in September, but some people do not realize that what is walking the runway actually isn’t the Fall looks, its Spring 2020.

Covering the up and coming trends is one of my favorite posts I curate for the whole season. I took a class in college all about trends and how they come to fruition and it was so fascinating to be, obviously still is. So let’s jump into the 8 big trends for Fall 2019!

Snakeskin

This is an obvious first place trend going on right now. We see it in clothes, in shoes, bags, it’s EVERYWHERE. I am honestly loving it right now, which is funny considering snakes are my biggest fear. It is the perfect non basic “neutral” to add to your wardrobe. I personally have been loving accessorizing with snakeskin shoes and bags (see below for my favorites). We really have been seeing snakeskin boots be in for a few years now but it has taken on a whole new role this fall.

Satin

Chef’s kiss for this material. It instantly makes you look luxe and high class, when in reality you probably picked the pieces up from Abercrombie (my favorite place to shop for Satin). When worn in rich tones like blues, blacks, olives or burnt orange, satin gives a beautiful textural element that adds some pizzaz to your outfit. We are seeing this trend transition also into work wear pants!

Square Toe Shoes

At first I was like “excuse me?” when I saw this trend start hitting the stores, but I will admit I now own a pair of square toed sandals (see below). My first thought was 1990- early 2000 fashion, but we know that has been coming back as well. To try out the trend I picked up a black pair with a fun snakeskin heel so it was neutral but not to funky for me to feel uncomfortable in them. Definitely recommend trying some on and seeing how you feel in them first!

Houndstooth

An oldie but a goodie. Houndstooth is not by any means a new concept of print. It has been a classic for many years but is back this fall in a big way. I personally love Houndstooth in work wear. I think it is effortlessly chic and can class up any look. Also am I the only one that just instantly thinks of fall when I see this print?

Asymmetrical Necklines

Kind of a fun trend! Didn’t even really see this trend being reported really online or in magazines but as I browsed retailers and such I saw it a ton! So just call me a trend forecaster. Asymmetrical Necklines look great with really simple looks, slicked back pony tail, that cool girl vibe ya feel me? I personally won’t be partaking in this trend because I hate how it looks on me, but I can definitely appreciate it.

Mini Skirt

The staple for any basic girl. Paired with over the knee boots? The perfect fall look. I do love how easy it is though to through on a leather, denim, corduroy, you name the material skirt, with a sweater and boots/booties and be out the door! Definitely an item to have in your closet with multiple colors and materials since it is so easy to style and there are many affordable options out there! All you Texas girls feel me, since we usually have warmer falls, that this is the perfect fall solution outfit!

Animal Print

I mean I don’t think animal print ever goes out of style but like many typical years, it is hanging in our closet. One thing that is a little different this year although, is we are seeing animal prints like zebra and cow come into the mix. Super fun and a cool new way to play with animal print! What is your favorite animal print?

Neon

Per the Spring trends this year, neon is still fair game. I personally can’t rock the trend really ever, but especially not in the fall when I am out here with my neutral warm tone looks. This takes a specific “revolve” girl who can really make a fashion moment for the gram. I do love how I have seen this paired recently with combat boots or strappy dark toned heels for fall! Throw on a leather jacket and you are set.

What is your favorite fall trend?! I would love to hear! And if there are any I didn’t mention that you are excited for? My favorite personally is snakeskin right now I must say!
