How to Style Flannel Shirts

November 3, 2020

A fall staple piece that never seems to go out of style is the flannel shirt! With 90’s fashion coming back in a huge way, the flannel is one of the most classic staples from the decade. Who would of thought as a 90’s baby I would be talking about the fashion resurgence of the era I was born, makes me feel old…. Any who! Today we are talking about all the ways you can style your flannels! Especially in Texas, we can get away with wearing flannels until December LOL. What is your favorite way to wear a flannel top?

Style 1: Tied Around the Waist

Pretty self explanatory! This style is a great way to cinch in your waist wether you are wearing jeans and a basic tee or a dress. This style will add some texture and keep the shape of your figure. If you live in hotter climates in the fall, it is great to wear around your waist as well to bring in those fall vibes without sweating to death in long sleeves.

Style 2: Buttoned Up & Tied

One of the most worn styles is of course the simple buttoned up style. Wear it with jeans either tied, half tucked or worn long. I love to also wear flannels with my Spanx leather leggings untucked for a more casual and comfy look! For the reasons of switching up a look in public, I have the tank underneath which is a more modest version but you can also wear without the layer!

Style 3: Unbuttoned

This is one of my new favorite ways to wear flannels (yes I am aware this is not a new concept). This look is more as a layer than a top. Unbuttoned with a plain tee allows a very relaxed look, and for those that sometimes worry that flannels can lean towards a lumberjack vibe, you can avoid that without buttoning the top all the way up!

Old Navy & Target have always been my favorites for flannel picks. This year the Target women’s section has great options, but I also suggest checking out their mens section for more oversized options!
