This months blogger spotlight is Kristian of Hey its mee KP! I have followed Kristian for at least 2 years now and love following along with her life! She has had such an exciting year getting married and posts the cutest fashion. She is also a Texas girl living down in Austin! You are going to love getting to know a little bit about her and make sure you follow along on her Instagram!
Q: Tell me about your blog & what your blog focuses on?
A: My personal blog focuses on versatile style that is affordable and functional for different occasions as well as my everyday life. I think its helpful to share all aspects of yourself on social media not just the perfectly curated ones to show people what everyday life is really like.
Q: Is blogging your profession or just a hobby?
A: Blogging is currently just a fun hobby for me, I work fulltime in the Tech industry!
Q: What inspired you to start your blog?
A: I was working a job after college that was good for my career but wasn’t fulfilling my creative side. I thought about starting it for years and finally just went for it! I was so nervous about the criticism I would get but my family and friends have been super supportive.
Q: How do you manage time to run your blog effectively?
A: I plan out all my sponsored content first as many of these have deadlines but most of my content is very current and is done in real time. I schedule time on the weekends, after work or on my lunch breaks to work on content but many people don’t realize its like having another fulltime job but I truly love it!
Q: Where do you look for inspiration?
A: I find inspiration everywhere from Pinterest, Tik tok and other fashion bloggers I follow, I then take some ideas from there and play with them to make it my own!
Q: What blogger has been most inspirational to you?
A: One of my favorite bloggers is definitely Dani Austin, she has been through so many trials during her blogging journey(internet bullies, hair loss, mom got cancer) but she always lives life with a positive attitude which is so admirable and she just comes across so genuine on stories.
Q: What have you gained from creating this community?
A: I’ve gotten to work with some amazing female owned businesses, I’ve made so many new friends not just in this city but from all over and in general I’ve learned so many useful skills(Photoshop, video editing, reviewing contracts).
Q: How much time do you spend blogging each week?
A: I work on the blog 4-5 days a week but try my best to cut it off at dinnertime and be present in the evenings.
Q: Who takes the majority of your photos?
A: My Husband(he’s an angel), my friends if they’re around, my sister…really whoever I’m hanging with but mainly the hubs!
Q: Camera or iPhone pics?
A: My photos are a mix, sometimes I use my iPhone but sometimes we’ll use our DSLR camera if I’m posting sponsored content. Most photos are shot with an iPhone and just edited well in Light room or Picsart!
Q: What is your favorite social media platform and why?
A: I think Instagram and Pinterest are the best for the type of content that I create. On Instagram I get to show my fashion pics, engage with friends/followers and show my everyday life but I can link all my looks onto Pinterest and get my folks to shop my links through there.
Q: Do you have any advice for people looking to start a blog or growing content creators?
A: My best piece of advice is to show up as much as you can even if it’s just to chat about a funny video you found or about all the laundry you have to do. People want to see the raw and real because at the end of the day they want to know they can relate to you and that you’re more than just “the best sale ever.”
Q: Where do you see yourself in the blogging community in 5 years?
A: Ideally I would like to integrate my blogging skills with my marketing skills and work in fashion or start a company of my own.
Q: Where are you from?
A: I grew up in SOCAL and lived all over the LA area, we migrated to TX when I was in middle school and I never left! I currently live in Austin, TX and love this city so much, I call it my little piece of LA in Texas.
Q: What is your proudest achievement?
A: Personal is definitely marrying my college sweetheart, we’ve been together for 6 years and married 2 months lol. I’m going to sounds cliché saying this but always marry your best friend! Proudest blogging moment was taking a step back this year and seeing how far I’ve coming and all the amazing companies I get to work with!
Q: Where is your favorite place to shop and why?
A: I can’t choose one so for me its Forever21, Nasty Gal, Target, Nordstrom Rack because they are all place that have affordable piece that can be used for several different occaisons. I keep my piece mainly under $50 because your girl is “balling on a budget.”
Q: Who was your first style icon?
A: Mine was my mom, she was working for a huge department store which was similar to Nordstrom and always had the best statement pieces! She had everything from 50+ heels, vintage LV purses, lipsticks in every shade possible it was so fun playing dress up with everything.
Q: How would you describe your personal style?
A: Girly, affordable everyday style
Q: What is your dream vacation and why?
A: ITALY, I have been dying to go and I think that is our plan for next year. I just love the food, the culture, the scenery I think it’s also a good spot where we can visit other countries like Spain or Greece on a short plane ride.
Q: Favorite food?
A: Italian lol I can eat a ridiculous amount of pasta
Q: Favorite TV Show or Movie?
A: So my husband Brandon and I are BIG movie people, we would go once a week to the movie theatre’s pre-Covid. I’m into rom-coms, action, thriller and a big crime/mystery fan!
Q: Favorite genre of music?
A: I have a wide range lol, growing up in a bilingual household I listen to everything from Bad Bunny and Shakira to Taylor Swift, Leon Bridges, Fallout boy and Dua Lipa. Really just depends on my mood!
Q: Stay in or go out?
A: The older I get the more I appreciate down time at home but after the crazy year we had I’ve been wanting to go out and do all the things!
Q: What is something people don’t know about you that they do not see on social media?
A: I’m loud, out there and goofy! Sometimes I feel like I need to be a certain way on social media but I’m learning to show more of myself because when I do I get way more DM’s and interactions with people then when I’m only showing the “perfect parts” of my life. I also love cooking and my happy place is in the sun with a margarita near a body of water.
Q: As you know, red is my power color and I love to hear others! What is your power color and why?
A: It’s funny because I’ve always been drawn to bold colors! I don’t have 1 particular favorite but feel my best in bright reds, blues, pinks, etc.
