Scent is such a personal and descriptive experience. I know this makes perfume sound very dramatic but its true, it can remind you of a person, memory or thing. Not many other beauty products can do that. I mean when is the last time a moisturizer took you back to a memory? I haven’t ever really been a scent snob, I just always stuck to one scent really. Middle School it was Victoria Secret Love Spell & Abercrombie, High School it was Pink Sugar and Juicy Couture Viva La Juicy and in College it was Vanille from Anthropologie. Vanille & Juicy Couture Viva La Juicy are still in my collection today! But these examples right here show how scent holds a memory. I love when Connor or my friends say “oh that smells like you” when it is a vanilla scent, everyone can have their own signature scent that makes others think of you. So today I wanted to share some of my favorite scents I have accumulated over the years! Funny enough, several Youtubers I follow just did perfume collections and declutters this week so I guess everyone has scent on the brain.
Juicy Couture Viva La Juicy: Let’s start with a classic. I remember the joy of getting this in middle school and feeling so grown up using it. A step above Victorias Secret & Abercrombie. To this day I still enjoy this scent. It is more sweet than I typically go for today but still wearable. I have had this bottle since high school I think which makes it questionable if it is still good but still smells like it did the day I got it! The notes in this scent are very floral but the base includes vanilla which you will see is my go to scent.
KVD Beauty Saint: I honestly do not know what came over me to buy this scent in college. I think this may be discontinued now as the brand rebranded and it is completely out of stock online. Once again the base of this scent is vanilla with floral notes. I love this scent as it smells feminine but not sickly flowery, if that makes sense. I really need to pull this one out more to use!
Lollia Wish: I wanted this scent for YEARS when I worked at Anthropologie. I finally got it for Christmas last year after lusting for it for so many years. I don’t know why I gravitated towards this scent so much as it is a fragrance I would typically never wear. But once again vanilla is featured! I really don’t smell the vanilla though, I feel like all fragrances have some note of vanilla usually. The other notes are sugared pastilles, rice flower and Jasmine. I really cant explain how this scent smells but unique and clean.
Sol de Janerio Brazilian Crush: We all have heard of the iconic Bum Bum cream which I sadly cannot use due to the scent irritating my sensitive skin, so when I saw they came out with the scent in fragrance form I had to get it! They have the perfume and the body spray, I opted for the body spray since I no longer owned any and thought it would be perfect for on the go in the summer. This is absolutely the best summer scent and only time I wear it. The notes are pistachio and salted caramel providing a sweet but warm scent!
Juliette Has A Gun Vanilla Vibes: This brand is on the pricey side so I opted for a travel spray size to try it out before making the commitment! I loved travel sizes that have the spray nozzle instead of the roller ball. This is another scent I strictly like to wear in the summer. You guessed it…. Vanilla notes with Sea Salt and Sandlewood. Really smells like summer vacation in a bottle.
Solinotes Vanilla: When I saw Target come out with this brand and there was a vanilla option you know I had to try it!! I honestly haven’t worn it much since it is in a roller ball format but it is so affordable and smells good. The scent is a true vanilla with notes of Vanilla, Tonka Bean, Spice and White flower.
Replica Coffee Break: This is my everyday go to right now! Another pricey brand that has gotten a lot of hype lately. I have this in a travel spray bottle and just picked up another one during the sale. I haven’t made the plunge for the full size since it is so pricey. This Replica scent is unisex and I love that the brand really evokes a specific space or place with their scents. The scent is warm and spicy with notes of coffee, lavender and milk mousse accord… not sure what that is LOL. The best way to explain it is a warm cozy coffee shop but the scent does not scream coffee but rather channels the feeling. Its so unique you have to smell it.
YSL Mon Paris: I got this a few years ago for my anniversary and everytime I wear this I get so many compliments. Connor can always tell when I am wearing it and loves the scent. I usually keep this around for special occasions or when I dress up instead of everyday as it is a more potent fragrance. This scent is described as a romantic floral with notes of pear, peony and white musk. The musk definitely helps make it not too sweet and floral which I love.
ALT Crystal No.23: So I heard of this company Alt from a Youtuber I watch. She loves fragrance and did a video on her colleciton. This scent is Inspired by Baccarat Rouge 540. You might have seen this all over Instagram but it has been a scent creating a lot of buzz for the amount of compliments and head turns it gets. But it comes with a veryyyy hefty price tag. Im talking like 300 bucks. So this company makes alternative scents that smell like very popular expensive fragrances. The youtuber says this smells exactly like it as she has owned the real deal before so I wanted to try! The scent is described as bold and warm with rich jasmine, saffron, cedarwood and amber.
Outremer Vanille: If I was to have a signature scent this would be it. I have worn this scent for YEARS ever since I started my job at Anthropologie close to 10 years ago almost. Best part is it is affordable and it lasts on your skin all day. If someone close to me smelt this they would probably immediately think it was me. It is described as a powdery, delicately spiced vanilla blend. No telling how many bottles of this I have been through and I always keep a travel size in my purse!
Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb: I remember honestly picking this scent up because it was all the rage at the time. I think this was right after I graduated college in 2016? I don’t use this scent as often and typically only use it for special occasions like my YSL scent. This scent is described as Warm & Spicy with notes of Jasmine, Orange Blossom and Patchouli. As you can tell, there is a trend here that if I go for a flowery scent its typically warm.
KKW Fragrance Crystal Gardenia: And as I just said when I go for floral scents that are warm…. this one is definitely straight up floral. But I have an association with this scent. My Mom loves Gardenias, we had gardenias in the yard at the first house we lived out when I was really young, and I guess you could say its my second favorite flower behind Sunflowers. I like this scent since it is very lightweight and isn’t overpowering. I will say I feel like this perfume does fade throughout the day though which is a bummer.
KKW Fragrance Crystal Vanilla: Of course when Kim launched a Vanilla version in her crystal line and I HAD to have it. This to me is a classic vanilla. Listed as top notes are orange essence, sparkling sugared fruits, and winter wild berries. The mid tone notes are quite possibly the reason I love the scent using vanilla chiffon, winter honeysuckle and poinsettia flower. Honeysuckle is another favorite flower and scent of mine.
KKW Fragrance Red Lip: I mean… I think you know why I bought this. To be honest I could have cared less what this smelt like. It was a huge red lip bottle and a Kim and Kylie collaboration. But as an added bonus, the scent is so good! LOL. It is described as an opulent white floral with notes of blood orange, red lotus flower, red gardenia, vanilla bean and plush musks. A amazing scent for summer!
Kayali Vanilla: And finally the last fragrance! This brand was created by Huda from Huda Beauty. I was obsessed with the bottle and of course the vanilla scent. This one is one of my everyday favorites, and to display its beauty and how often I wear it, it got its own special tray away from the others. This is a warm vanilla with notes of Vanilla Orchids, Tonka Absolute, and Amber Woods.
I hope I was able to convey the yumminess of each of these scents! This is where I wish we were all able to smell through the screen. I would love to hear if you have a signature perfume or any new scents I should try out!
