If 2020 brought anything, it brought trying a ton of new products and switching things up while being in the house! From this I have found so many new favorites that I cant live without! From makeup, skincare and more we are going to dive into it all!
Makeup
Morphe 2 Hint Hint Skin Tint: I am super picky with foundations since it is hard for me to find shades for my fair skin. I also struggle with coverage and lasting power I am looking for. I won’t lie, I did try this at first since Charli and Dixie D’amelio were the face of it (embarrassing I know). I LOVE this. I would say this is probably my standout product overall for the year. It is so lightweight, hence the skin tint name, but helps cover all imperfections for light makeup days while on zoom. I highly reccomend!
Bite Beauty Changemaker Supercharged Micellar Foundation: In a shocking turn of events I found yet another foundation I love! I had to try this foundation when it launched since I love their lipsticks so much. Just like the Morphe skin tint, this foundation is super lightweight and has been awesome for work from home makeup. I love that the formula is clean too so it does not irritate my skin!
Glossier Boy Brow : Have you picked up on the minimal makeup trend I acquired this year? When working from home I don’t want to have to fill my eyebrows in so perfectly with my brow pencil, but wanted to still have that color to my eyebrows. This has been so quick and easy to sweep on a tinted brow gel and be done! Perfect for light makeup days or everyday depending on your brow style!
Lancome CILS Booster XL: I don’t know why it took me so long to try this product after seeing so many people rave about it. I got a sample at Sephora and was then hooked! Its a last primer that really does help lengthen your lashes for mascara prep. Extra? Why yes but sometimes it’s fun to be extra.
Morphe Luminous Setting Spray: I swore by the original Morphe setting spray for over a year now. I love that the formula is low in fragrance after cutting fragrance out of my makeup products as well, hence why the Urban Decay setting spray sadly was kicked out of my routine. This spray has the lasting setting power of the original but adds a slight luminosity to make your skin look healthy.
Wander Lip Retreat Oil in Skinny Dip: Another product I fell in love with from a Sephora sample! Lipstick obviously hasn’t been the go to these days with masks, but I am that girl that needs some kind of color on my lips. This lip oil is so moisturizing and is the perfect nude color to just bring some life to the lips!
Charolette Tilbury Lipstick in Pillow Talk: I was late to the game on this one and boy do I regret it. I love this lipstick because its a nude color I can wear with anything and pull off with my fair skin. This nude is so perfect because it has pink undertones and doesn’t make me look lifeless and too nude (you know what I am talking about) The formula wear off so nicely and isn’t too drying!
Hair Care
Playa New Day Mist: With staying home and working from home, I have cut down on heat styling tremendously. I have naturally straight hair, but I do shower at night so sometimes when I sleep on it wet I obviously have some waves or frizz to tame. This spray is perfect to smooth my hair out and refresh it! I searched high and low for an effective product like this and it really works!
IGK First Class Dry Shampoo: Now I have been open about how I am guilty of washing my hair each night… I have very fine and thin hair that just gets greasy super easy in the roots. I found some dry shampoo’s I liked in the past few years but never ones I could actually wear my hair down with for second day hair. Until this one! I started putting this in my hair at night to really work the oils out and by the morning I am good to go! I still can only go one day without washing it but thats progress right?!
Fable & Mane Holiroots Hair Oil: This product is bomb! I really wanted to work on taking care of my scalp and making sure it was hydrated and this product is perfect. I use this on my whole head but really focus it on the scalp. You can use for 5 minutes before showering or keep on overnight (my preferred method). It leaves my hair feeling super soft and shiny, not to mention it is a clean brand!
Pure Zero Biotin Strengthening Shampoo & Conditioner: Just like all of my other products in life, I look for clean hair care brands for my sensitive skin. I was really wanting to grow my hair this year because I felt like my hair was thinning. This shampoo and conditioner has done wonders! I don’t know if I can attribute all of the the growth of my hair to this, but in general I love the way it cleanses and moisturizes my hair at such an affordable price!
Personal Care
Billie Razor: We have all seen this a million times on social, but it really is that great. I for years struggled with razor burn from you guessed it, my sensitive skin. I always used the Venus sensitive skin blades and they still didn’t deliver results I was looking for. Billie has given me a close shave and not irritated my skin, all while having such an easy refill program that you don’t have to worry about forgetting to pick up razors at the grocery. I also love their lotion but I go through it so quick since its in such a small bottle. Need an XL size pronto Billie.
Skin Care
Shani Darden Retinol Reform: After I completed the Beauty Bio R45 retinol system I really wanted a retinol I could use several times a week. I had heard great things about this one that it was not sensitizing which was huge for me! I love it and cannot say anything bad about it.
Dr Dennis Gross Ultra Gentle Daily Peel: Love these! I had really not exfoliated my skin in the proper ways before doing a lot of skin research during quarantine. These peel pads are the sensitive skin version which was a must for me so it would not be as abrasive on my skin. I use these 1 to 2 times a week because they cost a pretty penny but have been very affective!
Krave Great Barrier Relief: I started binge watching Skincare by Hyram on tik tok and Youtube which is where I heard about this product! It helps restore your skin barrier and brings me a lot of moisture when my skin needs it. And yup you guessed it, its clean so I don’t have to worry about my skin reacting negatively.
Fashion
Graphic & Tie Dye Tees: In general this whole year I have LIVED in graphic tees and tie dye. It’s embarrassing to look in my closet and see the sheer amount of t shirts I have. But I mean the vibe has been comfy and cozy so who can blame me?
Spanx Bra-llelujah Unlined Bralette : I picked this up during the Nordstrom Anniversary sale and am so glad I did. This bralette is SO COMFY. The material is so soft and supportive but makes you feel like you are not even wearing a bra. I highly suggest especially when lounging around in my favorite graphic tees;)
Home
Brooklinen Luxe Sheets: I have struggled with overheating while sleeping this past year. I was on the search for new sheets and wanted to make sure they kept me cool and of course were super soft. I am sure you have all heard about Brooklinen from Instagram ads like I had, so I decided to take a chance and am so glad I did! They have been wonderful so far and I love how they have a tag that marks long side and short side, its the little things!
What are some your favorite products this past year? I love to try new things!
