Jewelry Organization

February 27, 2019

So before you think I am a crazy women by the amount of jewelry I have… let me set the tone by stating why I have so much LOL. I worked at Kendra Scott for almost 2 years so I acquired A LOT of jewelry while working there. Kendra Scott is the majority of the pieces I own, others being from J Crew, Nordstrom, Anthropologie and Francescas. Jewelry (earrings in particular) can really finish off an outfit. I think it is so important to find pieces that really make you happy no matter what brand you might gravitate too. I look at a curated jewelry box as a treasure box. They are pieces that hold value, make you smile and hopefully some that you would pass on for generations. Now the majority of my pieces are not ones that I would pass down for years to come, but since I was little I remember both my grandmas having beautiful pieces that I loved to look into their jewelry boxes and see. Some of these pieces I get to cherish today. For me its important to organize these treasures in almost an artistic display. I have found the perfect storages solutions help with this vision!

First my earring rack that holds the majority of my most worn pieces. I made this DIY piece with my mom when I was in college. We took a rustic hanging frame and added lace to hang my earrings from. The lace pieces are special to me as well as they were from my Mom and my Grandmas fabric collections. We placed these on the frame with tacks. It allows me to easily be able to remove my earrings and creates a fun detail!

The second place I store my earrings is on these cross stitch hoops. These hoops were my Mom’s and her amazing idea to add fabric to the hoop to hold my stud earrings. This is one of my favorite ways to store my earrings since it is so unique and whimsical. I can easily remove these from my wall and remove the backs of the earring when I am ready to wear!

Lastly in this area of my jewelry organization I hang all my long and statement necklaces by this wall hook from Hobby Lobby. I organize them by larger statement necklaces, and then by style for all my Kendra Scott necklaces. TIP- Make sure if you have gold platted jewelry, that you are storing these items in a place that is not damp (cough cough your bathroom) so your pieces do not tarnish.

The other place I store my more delicate pieces is on my dresser. I wanted to organize these items in a way that could almost be considered décor. I found a dainty glass box to hold all of my statement rings. I loved adding in this airy element to display these pieces. Behind that I added personal touches with photos of some of my close friends in gold frames to add dimension and a personal element. The marble candle holder is the perfect accent to this area to add some height in the back and more texture. I know it sounds odd to some, saying you are adding texture to a space, but you want to be able to add height dimension and different materials in your accent pieces on a long dresser like this to create a interesting space. Moving towards the middle I have my mirrored jewelry box that holds all my dainty rings, necklaces and bracelets that cannot be hung up. It also keeps them clean and in safe keeping without getting tangled. To finish out my dresser I have two bracelet bars to hold my bracelets ranging from bangles to cuffs. The small acrylic holder is great for bracelets that are smaller that will not fit on the thicker bar, ensuring they do not get stretched out.

I think it is very important to store and keep good care of these delicate and beautiful accessories. So find a way to display your pieces to ensure good care, easy access to wear, and a way to make you smile!
