Spring Summer 2022 Trends

Fashion trends for Spring and Summer 2022 are here! I think I’ve said it before, but these are my favorite blog posts to do. Being a Fashion Merchandising major in college, I got to take several classes that focused on trend forecasting. Some people view trends as following the pack, I view it as a pulse on what’s up and coming and a way to have fun and explore fashion. In all honesty, trends are all recycled and are on constant rotation every few years, just like popularity of fit of jeans etc. So let’s get into the fun of what’s trending this season!

Glossy

Silk Glossy fabrics are a perfect way to elevate your Spring and Summer looks. The fabric gives an effortless and more of an expensive vibe. You can stay super chic in all neutral monochrome looks like the ones below, and the pieces are easy staples for any season to have on hand.

Colorful Blazer

Blazers are not new to our wardrobe, but this season we are getting bolder! Not only bold blazers, but matching bottom pieces are all the rage to add to the impact! This trend definitely isn’t for the faint of heart, but rather for those who like to make a statement and have fun with colors in the brighter seasons.

Lace

I really don’t think we have ever seen a Spring or Summer season without lace leading the pack in trends. The shake up is always how lace is being elevated through different garments. This season I have been seeing lace take a big role in dresses. Lace dresses are the epitome of femininity and keep a light and fresh look for the season.

Butter Yellow

Besides the green trend this season I think Butter Yellow has to be my second favorite color trend. Butter yellow can be so show stopping without even being loud and out there. I LOVE the photo below in the middle of the all yellow separates look. Makes it look so chic and effortless all while still being muted and not too loud. Butter yellow especially looks killer on darker skin tones and brunettes. The yellow really pops and compliments.

School Girl Chic

Back for another season. We keep seeing school girl chic evolve season after season from pleated tennis skirts to now tailored pants and more private school uniform chic. If you are on Tik Tok and love fashion you probably follow Xenia who covers so many high fashion looks. Thats were I first saw the bottom Miu Miu skirt and was like what in the 2000’s mini skirt is this. I think we will continue to see this trend evolve season too season for time to come.

Grass Green

While Kelly Green is still a color of the moment, we are seeing it evolve this season into its brighter younger sister Grass Green. I for one am super into green being the it color right now. We are seeing it all over fashion and its an easy trend to dip your toe into this season!

Coastal Grandma

This is a trend that I hadn’t really seen popping up until the past month. Now I see it EVERYWHERE. Its a play on beachy vibes, but make it grandma chic. I for one will not be dabbling into this trend, but it would be a perfect look to try out for any beach or tropical getaway. In the below examples you can see how this trend can come across more elevated, and then more young and fun. This trend is definitely all about finding the right piece.

Plisse Fabric

This fabric is the it girl of the season. We are seeing this fabric all over trendy sites like Nasty Gal and Misguided. Plisse is showing up in all forms but especially in two piece sets! So chic for a tropical getaway, or even a night out with the girls. I currently have my eyes on a bold green plisse set!

Puff Sleeves

You have to be living under a rock if you haven’t seen this trend happening this season. Puff sleeves are EVERYWHERE and on everything. They can range from a small puff sleeve to a super dramatic moment. I myself go for a more timid sleeve but love the affect and statement they can make for a look.

Very Peri

Last but not least the color of the season. Very Peri is the Pantone color of the year so you will be seeing it everywhere. Not only will you be seeing Very Peri, but toned down versions of the color are showing up like Lavender. Purple is gorgeous on any skin tone and brings such a bright and cheerful vibe for the warmer seasons.
