February Book Review

March 29, 2019

Where’d You Go, Bernadette by Maria Semple was my book of choice for February. It has been on my list for awhile, and I recently heard it was being created into a movie releasing in August! I’m one of those people who likes reading books before the movie, that way I can create my own vision of the characters and not imagine the movie the whole time I am reading. I always struggle with book reviews because I want to avoid giving away to much information before you get started reading yourself! Where’d You Go Bernadette is a lighthearted read about a woman Bernadette and her family. Her family consists of her husband Elgie and daughter Bee. Bernadette and Elgie moved to Seattle later into their marriage and after the move Bernadette was never the same. The book goes into detail on the events that lead them to where they are today. One thing that is evident although, is Bernadette’s love for her daughter Bee. It is truly heartwarming to see the connection Bernadette has with her daughter in which she does not show for other relationships in the world. So when Bernadette runs away it is Bee’s mission to find her mom because she knows her mom would never leave her.

The book is a very easy read that can catch you reading for hours since there are no chapters. There are distinct breaks between passages but no chapters to stop you abruptly in your reading which was refreshing!

I highly suggest picking this book up before the movie and if you enjoy a lighthearted fun read!
