Podcasts are one of my favorite ways to pass time. I love listening to them in the car, while cleaning my room, even working out. It is a quick and easy way to stay in the know on topics, learn something knew, or just pure entertainment while you are in motion, or not! I have really gotten into many different podcasts in the past year, and honestly feel like society as a whole has come to see the value in podcasts recently. I like to call it new wave radio since you can listen to it at any moment, any time on your own accord. Below is a breakdown of all the podcasts I listen to and would highly suggest if you are looking for something new!
Top Podcast
–The Morning Toast: If you know me at all you know I am a The Morning Toast STAN. The Morning Toast is hosted by two sisters, Jackie and Claudia Oshry, you might know Claudia as Girl With No Job the popular Instagram meme account. I am telling you I get pure joy and happiness listening to these two girls everyday. The show is also live on YouTube Monday-Friday but they release the episodes as podcasts as well which is my preferred method to listening when I am commuting home every day! The girls cover topics from the Real Housewives, The Bachelor, celebrity news etc. and make you die laughing when listening. I have been following them from the start 2 years ago when they started as The Morning Breath. The show is not only enjoyable but it has created a whole culture that is so fun to be a part of. “Toasters”, as the listeners are affectionately called, have Facebook groups of all kinds to stay in tune with all subjects in life and connect as a community. There are also hilarious inside jokes you come across and love to use in your daily vocab, some of my favorites are: Business woman special, In tune with whats necessary, Cross to Bear, Least we not forget, and grab a spoon…. the list goes on and on. Just trust me and listen to this podcast yourself, you will fall in love.
Entrepreneur/Blogging
–How I Built This: Guy Raz hosts this dynamic podcast interviewing founders of fashion, travel, beauty etc. brands. He has interviewed people from Kate Spade, Roxanne Quimby co founder of Burts Bee’s, Julie Rice and Elizabeth Cutler of Soulcycle, and John Makes of Whole Foods. I love this podcast because it covers so many different areas of business giving a wide variety of start up stories. I find this podcast so interesting and informing for me to better understand the back stories of companies I use on a day to day basis.
–Second Life: Hillary Kerr, co founder of Who What Wear (yes the now Target brand), hosts Second Life where she interviews influential women in the fashion/beauty business. I personally love hearing the stories behind the brands we all love and how these strong women created what we love today. Hillary has interviewed Lauren Conrad, Kendra Scott, Alli Webb Dry Bar founder and so many more. I love to listen to these stories to help me grow my knowledge of the industry and build my dreams of what my blog could be one day.
–The Goal Digger Podcast: This podcast is perfect for those looking to create their own business. Jenna Kutcher provides insights on how to maintain and grow a successful business and how you can use your influence to connect with your audience and gain new customers! Jenna’s tips and guests apply to not only bloggers but small business owners.
–The Influencer Podcast: Julie Soloman has a background in marketing and now uses that experience to host her podcast and provide insights on how to monetize your blog and influence. She also features some very influential guests who share their story which inspires me daily! Julie also hosts an online class called Pitch it Perfect that I am looking into signing up for! Her ideas and tips are endless.
–Breaking Beauty: This has been one of my new podcast finds and I am in love! The two hosts are beauty editors who sit down with the founders of some of the most influential beauty brands. My favorites have been interviews with Anastasia from Anastasia Beverly Hills, and Frank Toskan co founder of MAC Cosmetics. The podcast offers back stories of the brands and the struggles each brand faces in their starting stages. If you love beauty I highly suggest!
Entertainment/Bravo
–The Daily Dish: If you love Bravo than you need to listen to this podcast. Each week they dig into all the episodes that aired and interview your favorite Bravo celebs. This podcast is also produced by Bravo so they are legit sources and so fun hearing from the network themselves (The hosts are Bravo show producers)!
–Juicy Scoop with Heather McDonald: If you like to laugh then this is the podcast for you. Heather McDonald is a comedian who was formally on the show Chelsea Lately and now has her own podcast where she digs into Bravo shows, current events and interviews people in the entertainment industry. I always love listening to Heathers recaps on Bravo shows, she has Housewife impersonations down pat! My favorite ones are Lisa Rinna and Dorit, its hilarious.
–Straight Up with Stassi: I will really only suggest this podcast if you already watch Vanderpump Rules. Stassi covers much more than just being on a Bravo show, but I don’t think you will connect as much if you don’t know her personality and who she is. Stassi is hands down one of my favorite Bravo celebrities and I love listening to this podcast in the background as I get ready for bed or pick up my room. Dying to read her book when it comes out.
–Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen: I hope you all know what this is, and if you don’t I am disappointed LOL. This is just the podcast version of Watch What Happens Live on Bravo. Andy interviews Bravo celebrities (how many times I can I say this in this post?) as well as Hollywood celebrities! Quick 30 minute episodes make it easy to listen to when getting ready or on my commute! His guests have been known to spill the tea when answering questions so I love to hear their answers.
Fashion News
–Pop Fashion: Being in the Merchandising industry, and a lover for fashion, I love and need to stay on top of the news. Carin and Lisa discuss all breaking fashion and beauty news each week as well as cover interesting fashion crimes that you might not usually see, lawsuits etc. Its an easy listen and keeps me up to date on all my retail news!
Crime
–Dirty John: If you haven’t heard of Dirty John by now I would like to know what rock you are living under. Not only is this a well known podcast, but it was also turned into a Bravo scripted series this last fall. Dirty John covers the love story of John Meehan and Debra Newell. I listened to this podcast in 1 day sitting at my desk at work. It keeps you on your toes and wondering what’s around the corner. If you love true crime then you will be obsessed with this!
–Martinis & Murder: This is another new podcast I have gotten into recently. The podcast is produced by Oxygen network and is hosted by Daryn (Andy Cohens assistant) and John. Not to make light of murders, but Daryn and John are very funny and bring a good energy to a sad topic. Each week they cover a new murder story from all throughout history, some are recent stories we have all heard of, some are from years past so the mix makes it really interesting!
What podcasts are your favorite, and which ones did I not list?! I am always looking for a new podcast to binge.
