I have loved watching trends on the runway during fashion week to celebrity street style for years. Getting magazines and cutting out images I loved to flagging looks and trends I wanted to try out was, and is, one of my favorite things to do. Every season I have been compiling runway/street style examples for y’all and also providing affordable versions so you can also rock the trend if you choose! Now trends come and go, and it’s important to remember to experiment with style but also stay true to yourself. There are several trends we will get into that I have no intention of trying out since it is not something I personally like! This spring summer is looking different than seasons pasts, being quarantined and not being able to spend time with friends and family. However you can still rock a lot of these trend while inside or get ready to find that fashion forward look to rock when you can be back on the town!
Tie Dye/Bleach
Now I am sure everyone knows this trend by now. If not than you must not have social media LOL. From creating your own tie dye or bleach looks curtosey of Tik Tok trends or picking up a pre made version at any hot retailer, this trend is at the top of the list this season. I personally LOVE this trend, and am so glad that its back in style. From the 70’s to the 2000’s tie dye has been around for years but is taking a new spin with matching sets. These looks sell out super fast so grab it when you can!
Sweat Sets
GQ Who What Wear Stylelab
Bouncing off the tie dye trend is matching sweat sets. Never did I think I would want to rock a matching sweat set since the old connotation of it was soccer moms wearing their track suits or Juicy Couture sweat sets circa 2000’s. The matching makes this lounge wear look a little more elevated and chic (that is if loungewear can be chic). So pull out your “fancy” sweats on a day that you want to feel a little more pulled together but comfy!
Sheer
Gucci Ecemella Fashionsizzle
We have seen this trend come back around a lot over the past few seasons. From Sheer skirts, to sheer blouses with touches of lacy bras, this trend capitalizes on the feminine look. I personally do not gravitate towards this look as much, but if light and girlie is your speed try this trend out!
Puffed Sleeves
Instyle Who What Wear Pop Sugar
I wish I could rock this trend, so I am on the look out for the perfect structured sleeve! Another take on a more feminine look this spring and summer. I personally love this trend when incorporated into dresses or basic neutral tops. There are definitely different levels of “puffy” you can experiment with so don’t be intimidated by it!
Gold Chain Necklaces
Elle Pop Sugar Who What Wear
Besides the tie dye trend, this gold chain look is my next favorite trend of the season. You could definitely walk the thin line of chic or 90’s rapper depending on the length and how you pair these jewels with your looks. I love pairing a black or white classic tee with my gold chains adding a classic and chic look. Whats even better about this trend is you can find very cheap options that you can experiment with and not break the bank.
Drawstrings
The Fashion Spot Hypebae Viva NZ
The drawstring trend plays on the athletic athleisure look. This doesn’t fit my personal style but you can find touches of drawstrings or drawstring inspired tops this season. I love that a small detail like an elastic string can create a trend that everyone lusts for! Its all in the details.
Bermuda Shorts
Fashionista Who What Wear Harper’s Bazaar
So I personally am not here for this look. I remember having to wear bermuda length shorts to elementary school so they would meet dress code. I guess this trend is scaring for me LOL. The right person and the right look could definitely make it look elevated and chic so take your chances and try this trend if you are daring.
Polka Dots
Fashionista Pinterest Fashionista
A timeless trend! I love the take on polka dots this season however. Mixing with other patterns and materials gives a new spin to the print thats been around for years. Sometimes I view this as a younger print that can look a little cheesy but I will say I love it mixed with other patterns like the examples above. Adds an elevated element.
Bras as Tops
Cosmopolitan In Style Vogue
This is another trend that I do not plan to be rocking. I feel this is also a very specific style. With this trend it can also rock the line of looking couture to looking a little trashy. I think the material of the tops plays a huge factor in this trend!
Big Bags
Vogue Style Caster Purse Blog
Now this trend is something every girl can get behind, because lets be real the amount of things we keep in our purse is out of control. The oversized look adds a chic element and an unexpected factor since these styles are usually scaled down unlike your usual tote bag.
Thats a wrap on the 10 spring summer trends I expect to see all over! What trend are you already rocking and what do you want to experiment with?! I cant wait to be out in about hopefully soon and be able to experiment with fashion again.
