You remember growing up and always hearing that black and brown do not go together? It was one of those fashion rules that were set that shouldn’t be broken. But as the years have passed, these rules continue to be shattered with people taking their style into their own hands, because fashion has no rules. Just like no white after labor day, or the Coco Chanel accessory rules, we were told that black and brown make a frown… but think again! This color combo is actually quite chic.
Now I know for some breaking rules can be hard. My number one tip to start to begin mixing black and brown in your clothes is accessories! As you can see in these looks, the black hat adds some contrast with the brown sweater, but since they are all neutrals, they pair together very well. I will say, I am not really a huge fan of pairing black with dark brown, but tan with black? **Chefs Kiss** A tan or light brown is my go to for pairing with black!! I love the depth that the black can add to the look and it doesn’t look dark sad, and muddy like a lot of peoples fears with dark brown and black. It also could look like you got dressed in the dark and couldn’t tell the difference between the two colors LOL same story with navy.
Pinterest is the motherland with ideas and outfits combos. I get a lot of my neutral inspiration there. I suggest as you play with these color combos, to pull pieces out of your closet and begin to lay looks together and try on. Fashion is all about experimenting and you will never know if you like something until you try! Like I said, fashion is made to break rules!
