I am usually not the one to jump on the bandwagon with specific trendy items. I will usually pull inspiration from a seasons color pallete or take a spin on the trend in my own way. That was until plaid blazers were all the rage this fall!

I immediately fell in love with the menswear inspired yet classic look. Every fall/winter we see plaid come to play in some way. This year however it came into view as more of a statement piece than on your everyday sweater. I knew when this trend came to fruition I wanted to pick up a blazer that didn’t break the bank. Target has two amazing options for under 40! Can’t beat that when purchasing a trendy piece that might only be around for one season! Contrary to some people’s belief, a plaid blazer can be worn in a wide variety of ways dressed up or down. You arent held to a limit of what you can do with this statement fall piece. My favorite way to style them is with distressed jeans or black jeans. This is a classic effortless look that can be worn more casually but still turn heads. I could rave on and on about this pair of distressed denim! I had been on the search for the perfect pair all season that fit in all the right places and found this gem at American Eagle! Highly recommend. I added my new favorite wine colored statement bootie to add a different element to the look but you could simply wear black booties or heels if you aren’t feeling as adventurous!
On the other hand if you were wanting to dress the blazer up for work or a date night out, it would be gorgeous with a black or wine colored dress! If dresses aren’t your thing simply switch out the jeans for a sleek pair of black slacks. The limit is truly endless with a plaid blazer, it can really add some interest to an all neutral look or be a fun pattern play with a warmer color palate.
If statement pieces make you nervous, a neutral and more subtle plaid blazer is the perfect way to start getting out of your comfort zone!! Besides plaid blazers, what trends or pieces have you been loving this fall?!
