Home decor has always been one of my favorite hobbies since I was a little kid. I remember at such a young age I would spend Friday nights with my Mom watching HGTV all night long. From watching these shows I started going to Home Depot with her and gathering paint chips and making my own color palettes. I started out as a child wanting to be an Interior Designer, but then realized fashion was much more my speed once I found out I would have to learn things like plumbing in school. Just like fashion, home decor is an extension of yourself and your style. This is the first impression you give a guest when entering your home, just like your outfit gives a first impression on an interview or meeting someone for the first time. I find my personal home decor style to be a mix of new age vintage. I love warm palettes, and eclectic fun pieces. Conversation starters can always be found in reinventing a new antique piece. If I had to pick my favorite inspiration it would have to be Anthropologie, which is the perfect example of new age vintage. Let’s jump into how I curated my bedroom decor and a few of my favorite pieces in my room!
I love when a piece of furniture has a story or memory attached to it. My bed frame has been passed down from my grandmother, to my mother and now to me. I love the wroight iron element and how it adds an interesting design to the frame of the bed. My bed spread I got from none other than Anthropologie. Their duvets are definitely an investment but I made sure I picked one that would be suited with many other color palettes in the future if I ever wanted to change the feel of the room. One of my favorite things about it is the interesting details and layers it brings without being colorful, I like to add in my pops of color elsewhere. My window and vintage suitcase side table were all found at antique shops around the country. My family has always loved exploring antique shops throughout the years, and I find it so fun to take something so old and make it new in your own way.

Next up is my dresser which was my grandmothers. I gave it a brand new coat of paint and new life! Unfortunately I do not have the before and after photos, but many people have a hard time visualizing an old outdated piece of furniture and how it could be turned into something so fun and lively for a room. I knew I wanted a focal point to my room where I could hold my jewelry and create a photo wall (shoutout to pinterest for the inspo)! The majority of my jewelry holders and frames came from none other than Target. Target really is my first place to stop when looking for accessories and especially frames. This year they have come out with so many collections that fit my home decor style. Project 62 can add in fun touches of gold bringing in the new age aspect, Opalhouse which has vintage bohemian vibes very similar to Anthro, and finally Hearth and Hand, any homey farmhouse decor lovers dream. For myself I haven’t invested in super expensive pieces yet since I am still in an apartment with my roommate, and we split the costs on our pieces on who purchases what, so right now Target is the perfect solution for trendy and quality pieces on a cheaper bill.
I have an unhealthy amount of Kendra Scott jewelry after working there 1.5 years and already having a jewelry collection before then. It was hard to find the perfect storage solution, and am slighting outgrowing my current organization. My Bracelet bars very obviously hold my bracelets and my jewelry box holds more precious jewelry or small delicate rings and necklaces. In my long ring box I like displaying my statement rings. Now the earrings, which was a beast to tackle. My mom helped me create this storage Junior year of college and it has worked for me ever since. We made the wooden frame that holds my larger dangle earrings from a frame at Hobby Lobby and attached lace that was part of my grandmothers sewing collection for the earrings to hang on. This was still not enough storage and wasn’t the best solution for my studs, so we took canvas fabric and attached it to sewing circles in various sizes so I had a place for my larger earrings with posts and my stud earrings. This way I can see what all my options are and not everything is thrown into a box or drawer making it hard to access!

My makeup area was one of the things that took me the longest to organize. I am super extra and love doing my makeup at a desk where I can spread all my makeup out and be close up to a mirror. I give huge props to people who can do their makeup from a distance in their large bathroom mirrors, it’s a talent I will never acquire. I found all of these acrylic organizers on Amazon at a fraction of the price of the original glam box. I love the look this gives on my desk and has been the perfect way for me to organize my products! To hold my brushes and q tips, I re purposed candle jars like I did in my bathroom with cotton swabs and q tips. I always save my pretty candle jars because they are perfect for re purposing in so many ways!
The final item in my room that I hold dear to my heart is a dresser that was my Dads when he was young. I gave it a new life with Anthro knobs to add a pop of color and whimsy! Anthropologie has the perfect accent pieces to jazz up any home improvement project.
